Why I Use a Dedicated Mildew Cleaner

You probably have places in your home where mildew grows. Don’t be embarrassed about it, we all do. It is just a normal thing. But it becomes a problem if you have an allergy to mildew spores or spored in general. Then, you need to take serious action – and switching to specialized mildew cleaners is a good step that will cut down on your allergies.

I used to use a standard household cleaner for everything. It says right on the bottle “Kills 99.99% of germs” so I figured of course it would kill mildew too. I would use that one spray on the mirrors, the toilets, the floors, and, yes, on the tiles in the shower where mildew likes to grow. But I continued to suffer from allergies. I thought it was just beyond my control.

Well, it turns out that mildew cleaners need different ingredients than just a normal cleaner. Sure, something that kills germs is going to kill some of the mildew too, just because it is such a strong chemical. But mildew is not a microscopic entity, it is a fungus that puts its rhizoids (roots) deep into tiny crevices in the wall or floor, or into the fibers of fabric. Even if you kill the surface mildew, it grows right back from the underlying rhizoids that are deep down.

A proper mildew cleaner is designed to attack mildew, killing its roots and spores so it can’t keep spreading and coming back. You will notice mildew in full retreat if you make the switch – what a feeling of relief! And, the air became easier to breathe and my allergy symptoms died down after I switched, too. It was a great decision for me and I wish more people knew about it.
